Kronen-Apotheke Marxen-Ruberg OHG supplies several hospitals alongside its retail pharmacy. As part of the electronic patient record and medication ordering, the wards are introducing a closed-loop system in which the pack used is matched against the prescription by scanner.
For the closed-loop medication check in the hospitals, every interchangeable pharmaceutical central number must be entered by hand for each product, otherwise the system does not recognise the administration. With around 4,000 hospital articles this is time-consuming and error-prone.
In the ERP system, interchangeable articles cannot be grouped, which produces incorrect coverage figures when ordering. In addition, the constant checking of availability by phone and individual supplier queries ties up a lot of time in purchasing.
The generic groups flag at PZN level combines active ingredient, strength and dosage form independently of package size and replaces the manual mapping in the closed-loop system as well as the text fields in the ERP system. The data flows as raw data into the pharmacy's own ERP system.
An API integration of the Kronen-Apotheke's ERP system means that hospital orders placed through pharmazie.com arrive directly in the Kronen-Apotheke's ERP system and can be processed there.
The drug shortage database based on the BfArM data shows, in a structured way and marked directly on the article master, which manufacturers can supply, instead of checking the plain authority table without any link.
Through the MSV3-Client, wholesale and direct suppliers can be checked for availability in one interface and orders placed digitally, instead of phoning back and forth. The functions around MSV3, availability and drug shortages are currently in the evaluation phase.
The switch to the generic groups is currently being rolled out into the pharmacy's own ERP system. We will add figures on time saved together as soon as they can be estimated.
